Experience an exciting astronomical adventure under one of Italy’s Most Beautiful Skies
A series of three telescope-assisted astronomical observation events, in collaboration with Astronomitaly.
17 & 18 July – The July evenings will focus on observing the waxing gibbous Moon (approaching full moon on the 21st) with photos and videos of our satellite, including the Tycho crater and the lunar seas. Alongside lunar observation, telescopic views will include July’s celestial highlights such as the Ring Nebula in Lyra, stars Vega, Altair, and Deneb, and double stars Mizar and Albireo. There will also be an opportunity to view Saturn towards the end of the observation.
5 & 6 August – Unlike the observations in July, for August we will focus more on observing the Perseid meteor shower, Saturn (the Lord of the Rings), and all the main deep sky objects such as the Hercules Globular Cluster, the Andromeda Galaxy, the Ring Nebula in Lyra, and the Double Cluster in Perseus. The absence of the Moon will maximise the opportunity to observe the Perseid meteor shower, the Tears of Saint Lawrence, even the smaller ones.
4 & 5 September – Another event for astronomical observations with Astronomitaly’s telescopes without the Moon: it will be the best time to admire the gas giant Saturn and some typical late summer celestial objects, such as Andromeda, the Pleiades, Uranus, the Double Cluster in Perseus, the star Capella and, to top it all off, we will try to point towards the NE in search of the King of the planets, Jupiter!
